Frihet är det bästa ting
Friheten håller på att dö rubriceras en artikel i dagens Aftonblad – på kultursidorna väl att märka. Artikeln är författad av John Pilger och beskriver på ett bra sätt hur framförallt Blair (såsom vår egen Bodström) stryper de mänskliga fri- och rättigheterna.
I artikeln exemplifierar Pilger med hur yttrandefriheten grovt kränks i Storbrittanien bl.a. genom att berätta om Maya Evans: “Den 8 december dömdes Maya Evans, en 25-årig vegankock, för att ha brutit mot den nya lagen om allvarlig organiserad brottslighet genom att vid cenotafiet läsa upp namnen på 97 brittiska soldater som dödats i Irak. Så allvarligt var hennes brott att det krävdes 14 polismän i två piketbussar för att gripa henne. Hon dömdes till böter och hamnade i brottsregistret för resten av livet.”[vid cenotafiet är en minnesgravvård över stupade i första och andra världskrigen, min kom.]
Maya Evans är inte den enda. Enligt Pilger förbjöds förra året alla uttryck för opposition inom en kilometers avstånd från parlamentet! I en demokrati???
Pilger ger exempel även från USA och berättar att i “oktober dömdes en amerikansk kirurg, som var mycket omtyckt av sina patienter, till 22 års fängelse för att ha startat en välgörenhetsstiftelse, Help the Needy, som hjälpte barn i Irak som drabbades av den ekonomiska och humanitära blockad som drivits igenom av USA och Storbritannien.” I en blogg nedan refererar jag till Demokratiuppropet. I Danmark stängs alltså webbsidor ner och ansvariga åtalas.
Låget är rätt bekymmersamt. Kriget mot terrorismen (som ju är befängt i den bemärkelsen att terrorister inte är en rörelse) används som ursäkt att betrakta den egna befolkningen som fiende. Kommunikation skall registreras, personuppgifter kunna bytas med andra länder. När förbjuds vi att uttrycka (fel) åsikter?
